Under India's Drone Rules, 2021, operating most drones (other than nano drones and non-commercial micro drones) requires a Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) issued through the Digital Sky platform after training at a DGCA-authorised Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO).
What training typically covers
- Drone Rules, airspace zones (green, yellow, red) and the Digital Sky platform
- Basic aerodynamics, weather and flight planning
- Simulator and practical flying, emergency procedures
- For agri drones: spray calibration, chemical safety and the drone spraying SOP
